Memory Makers @ Traders Hotel KL
Friday, May 13, 2016
I know it’s been a while and sincerely apologise for this…
If you’re looking for some great venue for lunch meetings
yet spending affordably, I have nothing else to suggest but Traders Hotel KL’s
latest dining menu, the Memory Maker.
Memory Makers are new dishes or drinks that have been
created based on guests' preferences and feedback as well as other information
collected over time. With these data, the hotel chefs were challenged to
develop a single dish/drink that is truly exclusive to their respective
outlets.
The concept behind Memory Makers is to create and introduce
new signature dishes that truly leaves an impression – dishes that standout in
terms of flavours, presentation and the experience they evoke.
…and yes, I came alone and dine together with Kayte, and I’ve
tried my best to finish them all!
Cocktails:
Sky 33 – cocktail, SkyBar.
A fruity concoction with fresh apples, kiwi juice, a hint of
kaffir lime leaves muddled with vodka on ice. Cubes of kiwi vodka jelly for
that added kick.
Price: MYR35.00 nett
Selangor Sling – cocktail, SkyBar
Picking up from the existing signature cocktail, this
improved cocktail is slung with Tanqueray gin, hibiscus syrup, Elder flower
syrup, pineapple juice, dash of absinthe, shaken and top with a roselle flower.
Price: MYR48.00 nett
Starter:
Mushroom Tea
A very light and flavoursome wild mushroom infused broth,
served with salted tempura oyster mushrooms on the side. The broth is fragrant
and when paired with the saltiness of the tempura creates a wonderful memory on
the palate that lingers.
Price: MYR35 nett
Mains:
Threesome Meat Platter (for 2 persons) – main dish,
Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill.
Steaks and fine cuts have long been the mainstay for Gobo
Upstairs Lounge & Grill, and this dish elevates its appeal for meat lovers
by offering not one but a medley of three – chicken, lamb and steak. Nicely
proportionate in three portions with pumpkin puree for chicken, artichoke and
coriander pesto for lamb and Rosemary and Bordelaise sauce for the tenderloin
steak.
Price: MYR250.00 nett
Nasi Lemak 2.0 – main dish, Gobo Chit Chat.
This is another highlight that made me went cray cray even
my tummy is filled with meats.
A national favourite given a refreshing upgrade. Fragrant
rice can be eaten with fresh coconut flesh scooped from the container that is
the inner shell of a real coconut. The rice is steamed in the coconut shell
together with the coconut water and milk. Spicy prawn sambal, anchovies and
chicken rending or ‘ayam berempah’ maintain the traditional flavours.
Price: MYR30.00 nett
Desserts:
Cherry Bomm – dessert, Gobo Upstairs Lounge &
Grill.
A delightful dessert that borders on the theatrical. A
solitary sphere of white chocolate stands surrounded by a field of edible
flowers and raspberries. Dark chocolate is poured on the white chocolate shell
that crumbles to reveal the treat within.
Price: MYR30.00 nett
Le Bon Vivant Ice Kepal – dessert, Gobo Chit Chat.
An ice ball dessert inspired by the local Ice Kepal treat
that many will recall from their childhood days in the 70s and 80s. Topped with
raspberries and drenched with syrup, the surprise twist is the ice cream core
beneath the layer of shaved ice. Nostalgia and fun in a dessert.
Price: MYR20.00 nett
Like I said, these sumptuous dishes that you dare not to miss, neither do I. Thankfully, these menu are currently available until further notice!
