Soleil Restaurant Presents the Belgian Menu

Belgians like to eat, which becomes increasingly clear when you walk the streets of any major city in Belgium: one can find restaurants and bars at every corner, which will satisfy everyone’s taste. Being one of the countries with the highest density of starred restaurants in the world, it is a must to taste Belgian cuisine. This year, the Embassy is proud to partner with top end Restaurant “Soleil” in Petaling Jaya, where a Belgian chef will take you through an exquisite Belgian culinary journey.

The main highlight and objective will be to excite the Belgian expatriates in Malaysia to enjoy their country’s delicacies and for the locals to discover more on Belgian cuisines. Additionally, dishes from the menu that will come in popular demand will retain its status in the following weeks. 

I was invited to taste some of their specially made Belgian dishes which totally spiced-up my Thursday evening yesterday.

Cabillaud à la flamande, Cod Fish with Asparagus & Poached Egg

Wagyu Beef Cheek braised in Florelle Double with Belgium Endives and Frites

Belgian Waffles with Kriek Beer and Cherry Espuma

Speculoos Crème Brûlée with Fresh Berries

Chef Evert’s forte may be in the creation of the most finely balanced seafood dishes that hinges upon the styles of European cuisines but his true mastery is shown in blending local and imported ingredients alike to create unique world of flavours.

From blending a Barramundi with Tempeh to harnessing the citrus wonders of Yuzu in harmony with a live crustacean and Momotaro Tomato and root wasabi, he dares to create dishes with both rarity in ingredients and sublimity in flavours.
