[Tried and Tested] Kérastase Densifique Range: Volume Up!
Friday, October 24, 2014
It’s going to be a super cliché opening…
When it comes to hair loss or less volume, many people automatically
think of men. In reality, hair loss in women is quite common. Same thing goes to my hair
condition as well, I've been overly obsessed on using scalp shampoo and
practically ignoring the texture of my hair and it causes break-ends, that’s
when it tells me to make it feel texturized and more volume.
Kérastase or rather L’Oréal has researched what hair
density really mean to women and has found out there are three parameters that
really define hair density:
1. Bounce
– the bounce of your hair as your move, resilience of the fiber gives shape to
the hair and makes it appear fuller;
2. Lushness
– Even hydration from root to tip, gives shape to evenly hydrate, fuller head
of hair; and
3. Abundance
– Simply put, the number of hair per/cm², density of your hair fiber.
Kérastase has designed the Densifique range to act on
these three parameters to provide a comprehensive approach to perfect hair
density. There are three main technologies behind this breakthrough range:
Stemoxydine
(acting on the hair follicle)
To
reactivate the growth of hair in dormant state by providing an optimal
environment for the communication of “hair signal” between the stem cell and
the dermal papilla, and promises the growth of up to 1700 hairs in 3 months;
Hyaluronic C
(acting on the hair fiber)
A molecule able to retain up to 1000 times its moisture in weight, this molecule
is able to provide optimum hydration to the hair fiber, generating lushness for
the hair fiber and giving it density; and
Gluco Peptide
(acting on the hair fiber)
A molecule
that able to synthesize up to 20 types of hair protein, to restore the
integrity of the hair fiber; hence recover the bounce of the hair, giving it
more density.
So here are the three main products that I've been using for the past two weeks.
Bain Densit é
A custom-designed cleanser for fibre that is losing density.
Helps to awaken dormant bulbs and supplies substance plus toning. The hair is
suppler, more resistant and denser.
Masque Dansit é
The delicate texture of this mask enables an immediate
hair transformation as soon as it is applied by supplying smoothness and
lightness to hair that is lacking density. The hair is regenerated from roots
to ends.
Densifique
The highlights of the entire collection, and what we
called as the activator. Each ampoules contains:
▪ Stemoxydine® 5%: significantly increases the amount of
hair per sq. cm*.
▪ Vitamins B3, B5 & B6: help to promote natural hair growth.
▪ Texturising polymer: enhances hair fibre body.

**Self-evaluation by 122
women, daily application, over a period of 30 days.
**Stemoxydine efficacy tested through daily application for 3 months by 101 subjects vs. placebo.

Thanks to Kérastase, I've been using this for 2 weeks,
however my hair type is kind of b*tchy though so I have to clarify that the
result may varies on different users. Overall it works pretty well on my greasy
/ frizzy hair ends but it’s definitely not gonna work on my oily scalp. But, I’m
using two different types of shampoo to achieve the best results: scalp shampoo
on top and Kérastase Densifique at the bottom.
Speaking of the Densifique ampoule, although it claims
that using full bottle for each application, but I didn't manage to finish the full bottle since I have an extremely thinning hair (you can save it for twice).
However, there’s a slightly tingling effect when applying on my scalp (probably
helps to kill germs?) before drying my hair. Then, my hair feels bouncy and
volumized after drying. (Remember not to point the dryer head on scalp directly!)
What about my hair ends? Looks smooth and less frizzy overall, or I shall say
it totally works fine on my first usage for all three Kérastase Densifique
range.
So for the action on the hair fiber, you should see
immediate effect, but for the action on the hair follicle, it will take 3
months for the full effect.
