H&M Launches Conscious Collections for Spring 2014: Sustainable Glamorous
Thursday, March 27, 2014
Swedish fashion giant H&M is
continuing its commitment to more sustainable fashion with two new collections
this Spring 2014 – Conscious and Conscious Exclusive Collection. For this
year’s Conscious Exclusive collection, H&M is working in collaboration with
the sustainable fashion and design think tank Ever Manifesto, which shares
H&M’s commitment to a more sustainable future for fashion.
The Conscious Exclusive Collection
The dramatic and intricately detailed
pieces in the Conscious Exclusive collection show what can be done with more
sustainable materials, taking a mix of flamenco and Bohemia as inspiration. It
exudes a luxurious bohemian feel with flamenco influence and a generous amount
of embellishments. Silhouettes are curvy and ultra-feminine with contrasting
masculine details. The overall color palette of this collection is one of
romantic whites, cloudy blues and a mix of metallic and rich prints.
Accessories are a prominent part of the Conscious Exclusive collection, created
from recycled beads and plastics.
In commemoration of the launch of the
Conscious Exclusive Collection and the collaboration with Ever Manifesto, a new
issue of the Ever Manifesto magazine, entitled Ever Conscious, will be
distributed in partnership with H&M.
The Conscious Collection
Each piece of clothing from the
Conscious collection is made from environmentally friendly materials such as Tencel®,
recycled cotton, recycled polyester and organic cotton. Featuring
silhouettes of long lengths and wide volumes and draped garments in colors
inspired by sunset in the dessert and sand tones of terracotta, burnt brown,
saffron, sun yellow and reddish pink tones. Tassles, beads and metallic feature
prominently along with semi-shiny fabrics, drapy hand feel mixed with sturdy
and dry heavy weaves.
H&M's Conscious and Conscious Exclusive Collection will be available in
150 selected H&M stores worldwide, as well as online. Both collections will
star supermodel Amber Valletta, known for her interest in sustainability.
You
may grab them in H&M Lot 10 and Avenue K from April 10, 2014.
