[FOOD REVIEW] Sapporo Premium Beer to Cultivate New Drinking Culture Through SOP Klang Valley
Wednesday, February 12, 2014
Sapporo Premium Beer, Japan’s first and
oldest beer brand today established a partnership with SOP (Same Old Place), Klang Valley’s
newest Western restaurant and bar, to cultivate a new drinking culture and
reach out to more Sapporo fans in Malaysia. I'm honoured that I was invited to join this exciting beer pairing session.

As the No. 1 Selling Asian beer in the
United States and Canada, Sapporo Premium Beer constantly looks for ways to
expand its business and brand presence. Since its making its mark in Malaysia in
2011, Sapporo has conquered mainly Japanese restaurants specialty outlets and
supermarkets. This year, the brand is taking a step further by working
hand-in-hand with SOP to make the beer more accessible to the sociable,
sophisticated Malaysian consumers.
Such perfectly balanced taste makes Sapporo Beer a true companion to any meal, be it
Asian or Western. It brings out the flavours of any cuisines and makes dining
more pleasurable. For instance, Sapporo Premium Beer, when paired with
main courses by SOP, is a divine combination!
Pan Seared Norwegian Salmon with Roasted Vegetables and Balsamic Reduction | RM36 Fresh salmon from Norway pan seared with high heat, leaving a crispy skin and the flesh cooked to perfection. Roasted vegetables consist of red and green capsicums drenched tangy tomato sauce and balsamic reduction on rockets adds a delightful contrast to the dish.
Braised Lamb Shank with Toasted Baguette and Salad | RM48
Australian lamb shank pan seared before it was slow cooked for more than 2 hours and braised in rich celery, yellow onions and rosemary sauce until the meat tender and falling off the bone. Garnished with simple rocket salad and toasted baguettes, this dish takes the term ‘comfort food’ to a new height!
Crispy Pork Knuckle with Mash Potatoes, Mesclun Salad, Sauerkraut and Mustard | RM55
A meal fit for a king! Colossal pork knuckle first braised with herbs, then roasted before deep fried for a crunchy, crackling skin but tender yet flavourful meat. Served with a side of creamy mash potatoes, mesclun salad, tasty sauerkraut and mustard for that extra kick.
For me, I prefer light meal when it comes to alcohol-pairing dishes. So, Pan Seared Norwegian Salmon with Roasted Vegetables and Balsamic Reduction is my preferred choice!
